Member Benefits

Capital Credits
Since 1980, REC has returned more than $52 million in Capital Credits to our members. The ability to return margins to the members in the form of Capital Credits reflects REC's strong financial stability and a commitment to providing electric service at the lowest possible cost.

Capital Credits are a member's share of the margins (revenue greater than expenses) and are assigned to a special account in each member's name. The amount of Capital Credits assigned to a member's account is based on the amount of electricity purchased during the year. The total amount in the account represents the value of ownership in the Cooperative.

Annual Meeting
As a member—and owner—you not only have an investment in the Cooperative, you also have a say in its leadership. There are 11 director positions on REC's Board. REC's member-owners elect directors each year during our Annual Meeting. Each director serves a three-year term.
