REC Names New Director of Procurement and Facilities Management

Bruce “Tosh” Bowe Jr. has recently been promoted to director of procurement and facilities management for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC).

In this position he will develop and maintain the cooperative’s procurement, warehouse and facilities management policies and procedures by administrating facility needs for the cooperative’s five locations, overseeing the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services, and managing warehouse distribution and mailing services.

Prior to assuming his new position, Bowe was REC’s treasurer. In that role, he was responsible for the Cooperative's investment portfolio, cash management and debt portfolio, including managing interest rates risks and securing capital to meet REC’s short-term and long-term needs.

Bowe received a bachelor's degree in business administration¬ accounting from Radford University. While working at REC, he has also received his Certified Cooperative Financial Professional Certification from the University of Wisconsin through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and the Cooperative Finance Corporation. He also obtained his Management Essentials Certificate through NRECA.

Bowe actively participates in local fundraising efforts for the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Cancer Society. He lives in Essex County, Va., with his wife, Beth, and his son, John Baylor Bowe. The couple also has two grown children as well.

REC provides electric service to over 161,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
