REC Reaches Out to Families in Need

Dec. 23, 2015

A handful of REC's employees and members of the Board of Directors were busy on Dec. 23 delivering gifts to children in Caroline, Essex and Louisa counties. The Cooperative’s employee service organization, called Project Big Heart, worked with the counties’ social services departments to identify families in need, with children who would not receive any gifts this holiday season. In 2015, REC employees raised over $100,000 for various charitable organizations.

REC provides electric service to over 161,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
