REC Names New Director of System Planning and Engineering Design

John Arp has recently been promoted to director of system planning and engineering design for REC.

Arp most recently held the position of staff electrical engineering supervisor at REC. REC's engineering department is responsible for the planning and coordination of the Cooperative's entire electrical system.

In 1999, Arp began work at Allegheny Power as a system planning engineer and remained with Allegheny Power until joining REC in 2012 as an engineering supervisor. Arp is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

He lives in Spotsylvania County with his wife, Melissa, and their two sons.

REC provides electric service to over 160,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
