Grants
In 2013 REC’s LEARN (Literacy, Education, and Rural Networking) Grant program will award funding to non-profit organizations serving REC’s members or whose services directly benefit REC members. Each LEARN Grant is meant to supplement - but not replace - state, local or other sources of funding for specific projects. All community organizations in and around the Cooperative’s service area are encouraged to apply.
Organizations seeking funding for a project that will benefit the Cooperative’s membership are encouraged to participate in the LEARN Grant program. Grants will be selected by committee in early April and awarded in late May. Grants will be awarded in the following categories:
Education Grants - Five $500 and three $1,000 grants will be awarded to individual teachers, or groups of teachers, from grades K-12 who demonstrate creative teaching methods to students of Cooperative member-owners.
Community Grants - One $2,000 and four $1,000 grants will be awarded to non-profit organizations serving REC members, or whose services directly benefit them.
Emergency Service Grants - Three $1,500 grants will be awarded to emergency response teams who are served by REC, or whose services directly benefit REC members.
