Washington Youth Tour
In 1958 a rural electric cooperative in Iowa sponsored the first group of 34 young people on a weeklong study tour of the nation's capital. Today more than1,500 students and their chaperones participate in Washington Youth Tour every year.
Participants will interact with students from around the United States, tour historical and cultural sights and meet their representatives in Congress. View pictures from the 2012 Youth Tour.
Through this once-in-a-lifetime experience students may seize the opportunity to become concerned citizens better aware of the issues facing their communities.
