Director Elections

Director elections take place at the Annual Meeting of the membership during the month of August. REC's Bylaws govern the election processes and director qualifications are further defined in Board Policy.

The 2019 Director Elections begin March 1. To become a candidate in one of the director elections, you must be an REC member-owner as defined under Article I of the REC Bylaws. You must also reside in the region that you wish to represent as provided under Article IV of the REC Bylaws. Member-owners signing the nomination petition can be from any of the nine regions. For further details on director qualifications and the nomination procedures, please review Article IV of REC's Bylaws. All nomination materials must be received by the Office of the President no later than 5 p.m. on May 2, 2019.

At the 2019 Annual Meeting, scheduled August 22, 2019, members will vote to elect three Directors, one from each of the following Regions:.

Region I - the counties of Frederick, Shenandoah & portions of Page, Warren & Rappahannock

Region VI - Caroline County

Region VII - Louisa County

All interested candidates are invited to an informational session to learn more about REC, director fiduciary responsibilities, and time requirements to fulfill director duties. The information session will be hosted April 17, 2019 at REC's Fredericksburg Office.

To be considered for a director position, a candidate must complete and return all nomination petition materials.

  • Criminal History Record Name Search Request form provided by the Virginia State Police

Nomination Packet

In addition to the materials included in the Nomination Packet, to be considered for a director position, a candidate must also complete the Nomination Petition with the signatures of twenty-five (25) or more members who are in good standing with the Cooperative.
