Thank a Lineman
America’s electric cooperatives have designated the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day.
On April 10, 2017, REC will honor the dedicated men who often work in challenging conditions to keep the lights on. We proudly recognize all electric linemen for the services they perform around the clock in challenging conditions to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.
“Our linemen are the first responders of our electric distribution system, and they work around the clock on high-voltage lines,” said Kent D. Farmer, president and CEO. “Conditions can be difficult, but they power through to ensure reliable service for our members.”
Over 150 linemen maintain more than 16,000 miles of line in REC’s service territory. To honor their efforts, REC recognized linemen during National Lineman Appreciation Day.
REC invites members to take a moment and thank a lineman for the work they do. Use #thankalineman to show your support for the men and women who light our lives.
REC provides electric service to over 161,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
