Affordability and Peace of Mind:
Brielle Phillipe's Experience with REC

Brielle Phillipe, a resident of Rappahannock County, knows what it means to feel truly cared for by her electric cooperative. As an REC member, Brielle has experienced firsthand the cooperative’s commitment to affordability and personal service.

During a recent home renovation project, related home improvements caused a significant spike in her family’s electricity use — as did the habits of the team working on the upgrades. Before she and her family even had a chance to investigate, REC reached out.

“REC noticed a spike in our electric bill and proactively reached out to us and making us aware of this spike,” she said. “That allowed us to actually take further precautions to allow that electric use to go down.”

Her family determined that the increase was caused by construction crews leaving lights on overnight and not being mindful about open doors and windows. REC’s proactive information allowed them to take action before their electric bill continued to rise.

It was a small gesture that made a big impact, she said.

More than just monitoring energy usage, REC’s efforts reassured Brielle that she and her family were being looked after.

From energy- and money-saving tools in MyREC SmartHub to Budget Billing options, REC works to provide members with the information they need to reduce their energy use to save money.

“They were looking out for me, and they wanted to proactively let me know that they are keeping me and my expenses in mind and that they're looking out for my family,” Phillippe said.

“It gives me peace of mind knowing that REC wants to help my wallet as well as me personally.”

She said this example was just one way her family sees REC going beyond expectations. “They're always
looking out for us,” she said.
