REC: Most Power to Be Restored by End of Weekend
Friday | January 7, 2022

REC crews, contractors and mutual-aid workers restored power Friday to several thousand more members who lost power in this week’s historic snowstorm.

REC estimates that the majority of outages will be restored by the end of the weekend, with some smaller scattered outages continuing into next week.

As of Friday evening, about 21,000 members remained without power. That’s down from a peak of more than 98,000 outages as a result of Winter Storm Frida.

Several hundred mutual aid crews from across the country are working with REC’s field employees to continue making repairs and restoring service.

“For those still without power, we have not forgotten you,” said Casey Hollins, Managing Director – Communications and Public Relations. “Crews continue to make repairs and restore power as quickly and safely as they can.”

As a reminder, members without power can track the progress of their outage on the newly enhanced outage map on REC’s website, myrec.coop. REC also continues to provide regular updates on crew locations through social media and on the website.
