Rappahannock Electric Cooperative offers $20,000 in college and career or technical school scholarships for 2026

Seventeen students of families or guardians of member-owners can qualify for the scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year.

REC is offering $20,000 in scholarships for students who are attending or will attend a college or career and technical school.

The Community Scholarship program is part of REC’s continued commitment to supporting education and strengthening the communities it serves.

As it does each year, REC is offering 17 scholarships. Two scholarships are for $2,500 each. The other 15 are $1,000 each.

To be eligible, the applicant's parent or guardian must be a member-owner of REC. The applicant must also plan to enroll or already be a student in an accredited educational or training institution.

REC selects recipients on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community involvement and letters of recommendation. The application period is open until Feb. 27, 2026.

REC offers scholarships in three categories:

  • Seniors in high school who will attend a college or university.
  • Seniors in high school who will attend a career and technical school, or students enrolled in a career and technical school.
  • Students enrolled in a college or university.
