PACEM Cold Weather Shelters - Find a shelter here https://pacemshelter.org/get-help/ Cold Weather Shelters operate from sundown to sunup, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., from Tuesday Nov. 4, 2025, to Monday, April 20, 2026. 

Men’s Shelter: University Baptist Church, 1223 W. Main Street, Charlottesville, VA

Women’s Shelter: Belmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Avenue, Charlottesville, VA

Salvation Army of Charlottesville soup kitchen is open Monday, January 26, Noon – 6:00 PM. After 6:00 PM, attendees may transition to shelter as needed. Phone: 434-295-4058.

Charlottesville - Clemons Library on the University of Virginia Grounds, 164 McCormick Rd, Charlottesville, VA. Warming Centers Open: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., Monday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. Opening hours are subject to change, but the latest can be found at https://library.virginia.edu/hours.

Key Recreation Center - Address: 800 E. Market, Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Date: Monday, January 26 - Hours: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Pets are welcome; however, pets must be kept in a crate at all times while inside the facility to ensure the safety of all guests.

CULPEPER

St. Luke Lutheran Church is the host site for a Winter Warming Shelter, operated by Culpeper Human Services in coordination with Encompass Community Supports. FAUQUIER

FREDERICK

FREDERICKSBURG

Micah Ecumenical Baptist Church, 1016 Caroline St., Unisex, 24-hour cold-weather shelter.

HANOVER

Beaverdam Baptist Church, 19110 Beaver Dam Road. Scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and remain open based on need.

Winns Baptist Church, 12320 Winns Church Road. Scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and remain open based on need.

Ashland Church of God, 407 Myrtle Street. Scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and remain open based on need.

Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Road. Scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and remain open based on need. Household pets will be accepted, and Animal Protection will provide assistance.

All Hanover libraries will serve as warming spaces during normal operating hours when County offices are open.

LOUISA COUNTY

The Salvation Army of Central Virginia, 1900 Chamberlayne Ave, Richmond, opens at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, and will remain open continuously through 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27 (likely to be extended). They also have overflow through the Caritas House: (804) 358-0964.
