REC Announces Lower Power Cost Adjustment for 2026
Wednesday | December 31, 2025

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) has announced that the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) rate for its member-owners will be slightly lower in 2026. The adjustment is estimated to decrease the typical residential monthly bill by just under $1.00.

“Every little bit helps,” said Casey Hollins, managing director – communications and public relations. “Rising costs are challenging, and REC is working every day to deliver safe, reliable and affordable electricity. Following a year where REC again focused significantly on strengthening the reliability of our electric grid, this decrease in power costs is another way REC is returning value to its membership.”

The small reduction is good news for REC member-owners given that the costs for many goods and services continue to increase heading into 2026. Nationally, the average residential electricity price is projected to go up about 3.5% in 2026 compared to 2025, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
