REC Leader Elected to Utility Arborist Association Board
Monday | September 30, 2024

REC's Cindy Devlin Musick, Director of Vegetation Management Services, has been elected to the Utility Arborist Association’s Board of Directors.

Every member in the association is concerned with electric reliability, and Musick’s involvement will reap crucial rewards as she uses her insight to serve REC’s members.

At REC, Musick leads a team of professional arborists and contractors who work every day to reduce the number of tree-caused outages. Under her leadership, REC cleared more than 1,400 miles of right-of-way and removed more than 27,000 hazard trees last year to improve reliability for the Cooperative’s members.

The Utility Arborist Association is a professional organization for individuals and companies that manage trees around utilities and are committed to enhancing the practice of arboriculture. Musick’s term on the Board will end in August 2027.

As a Director, Musick will help direct policy and represent the association’s 5,000-plus person membership. With her extensive background in leading research for REC alongside colleagues at West Virginia University, she will also champion the group’s research committee.

Musick’s election to the Board will help shine a light on the issues that electric cooperatives face in serving their members.

“As a Board member, I’m able to be the voice of electric cooperatives,” Musick said. “It gives me an opportunity to continue investigating and researching tree-caused outages in collaboration with my fellow Directors and the association’s membership.”
