REC Plants Trees in the Shen Valley
Thursday | May 12, 2022

REC's Blue Ridge Vegetation Management team were busy celebrating Arbor Day with different groups in the Shenandoah Valley.

On Monday, May 2, Ken Rutherford, Forester; Percy Montecinos, Contact Forester; Alyssa Gagnon, Contract Forester; and Cindy Musick, Director of Vegetation Management, helped Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with an Arbor Day tree planting event. Twenty residents of the facility learned about trees and the environment and were able to help with planting new trees for their enjoyment at the Center.

A week later, on Tuesday, May 10 Rutherford, Montecinos and Gagnon held an Arbor Day tree planting at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal. The team spoke with 6th and 7th grade students from Alexandria Country Day School about the importance of trees. The students were attending a day long educational program at the Center, which REC serves. After learning about trees, the students broke into groups and helped to plant four trees on the grounds.
