REC Names Director of Member Services and Community Relations in Bowling Green

REC has named Joanie Griffiths, Ed.D, MBA as Director of Member Services and Community Relations. Griffiths’ primary responsibility is to manage the efficient operations of Member Services in REC’s Bowling Green office, which serves portions of eight counties within REC’s 22-county service territory - Caroline, Essex, Goochland, Hanover, King and Queen, King William, Louisa, and Spotsylvania. Additionally, Griffiths serves as a liaison between REC and the Boards of Supervisors in these counties and actively participates in Chamber of Commerce activities.

Griffiths joined REC in 2007 as a Training Specialist in the Fredericksburg office. In 2018, she transferred to the Culpeper office as Member Service Representative II/Team Lead. Prior to joining REC, Joanie served for 10 years in a variety of roles in public education including teacher, special education resource teacher, and technology coordinator. 

“Griffiths is a dedicated employee, both to her colleagues and the Cooperative’s member-owners,” said Kris Sieber, Managing Director – Member Services. “Her leadership will continue to support REC’s involvement in the community.” 

In June 2021, Griffiths completed her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University with a capstone study on Appreciative Inquiry. She has also earned a Master of Education in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a Master of Business Administration in Organization and Human Resource Development from the University of Mary Washington. Griffiths is a Certified Professional in Talent Development from the Association for Talent Development. She has been active in Toastmasters since 2012, currently serving as President of REC’s chapter and as the Area 74 Director.

Griffiths resides in Spotsylvania, Va., with her husband, Doug.
